Manifesto

Why be a fashion victim when you can have style?

Quoting the divine goddess Dita, ‘I advocate glamour. Every day. Every minute.’ Life is simply too short not to.

Why should you only dress up on special occasions and spend most of your life wearing something inferior? What good does your nicest lingerie do rotting in the back of the drawer, when you could be wearing it every day? Who is going to treat you like a goddess if you don’t declare yourself as one?

Bring back the glamour of the decades past! The ‘girl next door’ had her chance, now it’s time for something different!

It’s up to you to unleash your inner goddess/pin up girl/femme fatale/bombshell! Curl up your long locks into tantalising victory rolls* in the morning, slip your seamed stocking veiled pins into a pair of stiletto heels combined with a sexy pencil skirt, and paint a glorious pout with the most outrageous red lipstick you can get your hands on before you walk into the office.

Looking for inspiration? Have a look at Glamour Advocate inspiration feed on Tumblr for the latest saucy tidbits I’ve come across in my research!

And remember, in the morning when you are trying to decide what to wear, don’t forget the mantra ‘What would Dita do?

(* Don’t worry, if you don’t already know how to do victory rolls, just youtube it, there’s plenty of videos teaching you how)

Riddled by inspiration due to a gene pool mix of two extremely crafty families – I grew up seeing everything around me being hand made, and can still hear my great grandmother’s words ’it’s people who do it, so why not you?’ encouraging me to take on anything my wild imagination could muster up.

After all, if someone somewhere was capable of doing something, surely I could do at least the same, if not better…?

I’ve been lost in a digital world for more or less a decade, but now it’s time to return to my roots and embrace the skills passed down in my family from generation to generation.

Glamour Advocate is not just about bringing back the glamour of the decades past. It’s about celebrating the skilled and talented family I have been surrounded by all my life, and at the same time an exercise in embracing my creative roots, and healing my battered old soul through a therapeutic practice of creative dressmaking.
