I created a prototype of my corset yesterday. As I mentioned earlier, I’ve drawn the pattern from scratch based on the shape I wish to achieve with it.
I think I’m beginning to shape up a philosophy about this whole corsetry thing:
The corset is not created to fit you,
the corset creates a shape for you to fit.
The shape I’m working with is entirely different from my previous corset, which was very flat chested in comparison. With this one, I’m aiming to only pull in at the waist, but keep as must of the full bust and hips as possible. Unfortunately the shape doesn’t show at all on the doll, as I can’t tighten the corset on it.
This prototype is just the torso boning part of the corset. I will be cutting the cups out from the shape and creating tailor-fitted cupping to ensure maximum boobage with no flattening. That is if my theory works in practice. Here’s hoping.
As soon as I receive my ka-chink-chunk on Monday, I can put in eyelets and do a first round of fitting and get more appropriate photos of it. More photos then.

Bubbles, darling bubbles! The new year is already off to a wonderful start and I can tell it’s going to be a fabulous one!
The break from sewing has been long enough to let my neck & shoulders recover and now it’s turn to get back to the drawing board. Burlesque Ball is only a month away, so it’s time to start working on my outfit.
I am planning to whip up a Jessica Rabbit-ish shaped corset for this very special occasion. I drew the above pattern based on a 1890′s corset in one of my corsetry books. Now it’s a tad more challenging than my previous corsetry project, but let’s see how I go…
