Accessories, Shopping:
1950′s satin clutch

Just received this lovely little parcel from Bajue Boutique.

It makes the online shopping experience so much sweeter to receive something so pretty. It feels like a present even though I paid for it myself. What a wonderful little gift from me to me!

Inside I found this divine little 1950′s clutch I bought and had entirely forgotten about. Isn’t it wonderful when your own scattered mind sets you up with such a positive surprise?

(All clutch photos are from original Bajue Boutique listing)

‘Princess Candy Floss’ costume

Glamour Advocate ‘Princess Candy Floss’ fancy costume

You know the princess every 5 year old little girl wants to be? That was my inspiration. Over the top, tack-o-rama and ridiculously girly – for once I didn’t have to hold back!

‘Sweet Heather’ corset combined with a knee length three-layered princess skirt. A 6 hoop boned crinoline underskirt, a pale pink silk dupioni skirt with handpleated satin ribbon hem and a draped ivory satin overskirt.

A quick fairy tale peek…

My first attempt at a fancy costume is just around the corner! I don’t think I’ve ever had as much fun designing something. For once I didn’t have to hold back, but instead go as over the top as I possibly could! Pink silk, satin ribbons, frills, bows – the lot!

Here’s a few preview images… I can’t wait to show you the rest!

First corset in the making

After two days of intense hands on corsetry classes my corset is finally beginning to take shape. I opted for silk dupioni for material and somehow managed to stuff in 26 bones. The pattern itself is a very simple Tudor style corset, but the boning is hard work. Absolutely love the process though, so I doubt this will be my last.

On that note, just received confirmation that my first corsetry book has shipped.

Here’s a couple of photos of the work in progress:
